The Grapevine Grill at Chaumette Winery

The Grapevine Grill features an ever-changing menu that includes fresh regional ingredients and grilled foods prepared in a unique outdoor smoker/griller. While touring wineries in the Rioja region of Spain, Chaumette Winery owners, Hank and Jackie Johnson, were at one point served baby lamb chops that had been grilled over grape vine trimmings. They were instantly hooked by the light, subtle flavors; so much so that they decided to bring the unique grill idea back home to Missouri. They purchased a special smoker/griller from California that was originally used for flavoring grilled fish with mesquite and began sourcing fresh all-natural meats and produce from local farms. The rest is history. Now visitors to Missouri’s wine country (the Route du Vin) can enjoy a freshly prepared, wholesome meal grilled over bundles of grapevine trimmings from Chaumette Winery’s Chardonel and Norton vines. Experiencing the French countryside has never been so close. The grill is open for dinner on Thursdays (5pm to 8pm), on Fridays and Saturdays for lunch (noon to 5pm) and dinner (5pm to 9pm), and on Sundays for lunch (noon to 5pm). Aside from great food and exceptional views of the countryside, the Grill also features a variety of musical groups and performers, and other enjoyable events throughout most of the year. Some weekends feature an interesting array of contemporary and Old World French music performed “live”.
